I offer my apologies for not having written my blog for over two months. I have my new room almost the way I want it. Just a few more adjustments and it will be "home sweet home".
Spring was never this besotted with rain, wind and floods in Ontario when I was a child. There are people I know in the Ottawa area that have been forced out of their homes by the floods there. I hope the warm weather comes soon before others in the province have a problem.
I have had what the doctor thought was pneumonia for the last couple of weeks. I finally went to the doctor and got some medication to deal with it and it is beginning to get better. It is what would have been the 4th bout of the sickness I have had since I got back from the states almost 8 years ago. I don't know how to dodge these maladies. It is rather awful to get something every two years. Oh well, if my luck lasts I won't have to worry about it next year. I must seriously enforce my immune system. Now I am going back to the doctor's office on the 2nd of May to find out just what it is if not pneumonia.
Dobie has been an absolute whiz at learning new tricks lately. He dances when I put Bowie or Pink on; with a gusto that I have never seen in a dog. Dylan really loved music but never wanted to dance. He would smile at me much like a parent does with a child doing something new. But my lad Dobie joins in with me. It is quite lovely having another individualist bunking with me.
I will say just one thing about politics. Same thing, different day for Canadians as well as our not so friendly chums south of our border. The way our political leaders "do their job" seems more and more self-serving every day. Here we have a small weasel and the states have their orangutan. It isn't the average American who isn't friendly it is their self serving "monarch" that is doing things to cut them off from us. Rather like a bitter old maiden aunt. You can say what you want about Diefenbaker, but he did a lot of good for our country during his terms. We need some of that old know-how coupled with the ideals that come from a more enlightened way of thinking. We need a leader who believes that we don't have long before the earth as we know will be non-existent. They must believe it is in dire straits in need of a incessant aid. Then they must do something about it!
What is important in this world is the earth remaining truly beautiful. We must not add to its' stress. Our prime goal is to be a friend to Mother Nature. We have to give our all to save Her and stop this constant tearing down the beautiful to build this decades version of "tickie-tack boxes" to house people. Why can't we renovate old buildings that are still standing? Why can't we have a meadow or a small forest to walk in and still house the influx of humanity? Why can't we find some way of letting those that want to farm do so without feeling they are in servitude to an ungrateful country. What is the matter with a word like "organic" describing something that is organic rather than that which is made of brick and morter? We need planners and designers with integrity whose soul purpose is not to just make a lot of money but to keep our part of the planet exquisite. People out there, we need more than lip service if we are to remain "Canada the Beautiful"!
Please leave any comments you may have and I will give each one my attention.
