I got out yesterday and went with a friend to the voting polls. I have always thought it to be a privilege to vote in my country of Canada.
The lead paragraph on Yahoo news this morning went like this:
'Justin Trudeau's Liberals will return to the House of Commons with a majority government and a laundry list of campaign promises — along with some clear priorities that will likely be tackled before other tasks.
Trudeau will be Canada's next prime minister after leading his to a stunning majority government win over Stephen Harper's Conservatives and Tom Mulcair's NDP.'
I like many voters in Canada; except quite a few die hard conservatives, are glad that Harper did not get the majority government once again. Word is that he is retiring from being the head of the Conservative Party. Justin Trudeau has managed to acquire over 180 seats. I for one, am taking a 'wait and see' stance on just how many campaign promises our new Prime Minister will honour.
A female journalist, I did not recognize, made a comment on TVO's The Agenda with Steve Pankin. This was prior to our voting date of October 19, 2015. She commented that Justin, unlike his father Pierre Trudeau who possesses 'actual intelligence', had 'emotional intelligence'. Excuse me? What in heaven's name is 'Emotional Intelligence'? No dear journalist do not run that by me again! I am still shaking with laughter. Now that was an absolutely quirky comment. As if the media all over North America doesn't have enough to say about us here in the north, Now they have a new Canadian Prime Minister that is emotionally intelligent. That is right up there with ET and Bigfoot! Now understand me, I don't believe for a minute that anyone, male or female, can't be emotional and intelligent. But I do not agree with the former being an adjective to the latter. The next 6 months should be very interesting!
The Wee Few Words of Dylan the Dog
I have been having a really hard time accepting that winter is on its way. It hurts me right down to my very frisky little inner puppy; that I won't be able to get out as much as I do during the other three seasons. Tell you something else, I need a haircut! The lady at the vets calls it grooming; but that is what they do to horses not doggies!
This morning Ruth decided she needed me to take her out for a walk. Well I like keeping her happy so I acquiesced to her. (Since I have been hanging around her my word power has grown greatly.) We got out and when I took care of my business we went to the backyard with our friend, The Goddess of the Garden. She has been busy for three weeks now doing different chores that all together helps the garden go to sleep for the winter. It makes me very sad to see everything died down or cut away. Ruth promised me it will all be back in the Spring but that is a lot of time in this little dog's life.
Above you can look at a happy Dylan with not too much hair on a beautiful sunny day. Later you will see sad Dylan after Christmas with nothing but snow to look at till Spring. I also have trouble seeing properly lately. On occasion, I have bumped into the side of a doorway. I wonder if I have catty-racts? I just hope when that holiday called Christmas comes that Ruth will remember that Dylan loves turkey and gravy. Last year, I just did not get enough. A dog needs something to keep him occupied when he is snow bound.
Well fellow canines don't forget to take your humans out walking whenever you can in the Winter. Remember their health is up to you! Now go get your chow from them!
